Christine Goncharuk
Christine Goncharuk is a graphic designer and artist experimenting with different media. She holds a B.A. from Queens College, C.U.N.Y. and a M.A. from C.W. Post, L.I.U. Currently she is an adjunct Assistant Professor at Farmingdale State University.
 As an artist I am intrigued by work that documents the human experience. Specifically how an individual deals with sexism, ageism, societal expectations and social pressures. My thesis work, "Rites of Passage: from Girlhood to Womanhood," documents key events that girls experience in becoming women. "Rites of Passage" explores the questions - what makes a woman and when does one become a woman. Feminist Tapestries is a work in progress which explores various womens issues in a historical and educational context. The first in the series is titled "Birth Control" and explores the issue of reproductive rights through the birth control pill. Second in the series is title "Childcare" and explores the struggles of childcare for mothers in the United States.
