David Gracon
Documentary/Video Art/Activism

David received his master's degree from the University at Buffalo in Media Study and Sociology. His production interests include documentary, experimental documentary/video, diary, and collage. He taught video and film interpretation at UB for two years, and video and sound art at the University of Rochester. After a brief stint as the technical director of Squeaky Wheel, Buffalo Media Resources, he has since moved to Kanazawa-City Japan to teach English and make new work. Other interests include zines, underground music, punk, activism, travel, subcultures, and this Japanese video game where the sole object is to walk a dog. He intends to be the first person from his family to visit the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea.

EXHIBITIONS & SCREENINGS (Selected) August 2003 Evolutionary Girls Club art and activist collective. Matsumoto and Kanazawa, Japan. Screened "America at War" with traveling multi-media exhibition.
June 2003 Jettison, International Saloon, Kanazawa, Japan. Screened "Nomachi Sports Day" and "Flower Viewing in Tokyo," along with various documentary photo prints. The exhibition also featured works by other international artists living in Japan.
March 2003 New Music and Video Art, Machinohana-San Gallery, Kanazawa, Japan. Performed live audio composition to experimental video and screened various video shorts.
