Erica Harney
Erica Harney (born Peekskill, NY in 1984) completed an MFA in Painting from the Pennsylvania State University in 2010. She received a BFA in Painting and a minor in Art History from the School of Art and Design/New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Magna Cum Laude in 2006. She also spent a semester studying painting, figure drawing, and art history at the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy.
Solo exhibitions have taken place at the Estate Yard Gallery (County Kilkenny, Ireland), Muddy Cup Studios (Kingston, NY), the Daily Grind Café (Troy, NY), VARGA Gallery (Woodstock, NY), and the Pennsylvania State University. Harney’s work has also appeared in group showings in New York City at James Cohan Gallery, Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts Gallery, Sara Meltzer Gallery, and Claire Oliver Gallery. Additional group exhibitions have taken place across the northeastern United States and internationally. Upcoming group exhibitions for 2010 are scheduled for the Pennsylvania State University and the Coleman-Burke Gallery in New York City.
Harney’s work belongs to private collections in a dozen states and three countries. Public collections include the Maria Fareri Medical Home at the Westchester Medical Center (Valhalla, NY), Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (Bennington, VT) and the Dental Offices of Lewis R. Morrison (Clifton Park, NY).
Erica Harney has won several awards for artistic achievement, including a Dedalus Foundation Grant nomination, a Pennsylvania State University Excellence in Graduate Recruitment Award, a Graham Endowed Fellowship, Daniel Joseph Murphy II Memorial Award for Creativity, and two partial fellowships to paint at the renowned Vermont Studio Center. Notable publications include Alternative Magazine, Artscope Magazine, Kalliope Literary Journal, Stone Canoe Journal, and currently in Studio Visit Magazine.
