Tomas Woodski
|
Tomas Woodski graduated as a Specialist Craft Tutor in 2005 and has since been involved in numerous projects such as: Queer Crafts, drag workshops, interactive stage performances etc. His education is a mishmosh of studies within the arts and humanities and involves a number of universities/colleges in Sweden as well as in Canada. He has received certificates for arts, crafts and languages: these are the three coordinates that form the core of Tomas' work. "Many people question my choice of studying techniques or subjects that are time-consuming, narrow and some would say quite useless. I find those comments most peculiar and quite encouraging”
Currently working with art programs for a psychiatric assessment clinic as well as an LBTQ meeting point for teenagers in downtown Stockholm and occasionally writing for Zickermans värld, Tomas resides in Sweden and Canada.
Over the years Woodski has done projects and performances in a number of different countries such as Estonia, Poland, Israel, Romania and Belarus and has on several occasions received grants for the realization of such projects. He is a member of the Swedish-based artist's collective CORSO, as well as TUPILAK and of course the EVO girls network.
He is a quilter and a feminist who always keeps a Yiddish newspaper and a pair of knitting needles in his pockets. |
